Clarksville Lions Club has selected Eva Humphreys as its student of the month for January.

Humphreys, daughter of Shane Humphreys of Connellsville and Erin Smith of Clarksville, maintains a 3.67 GPA.

Humphreys is a four-year member of the Jefferson Morgan Marching Band, pep band, and concert Band. Humphreys participates in library club, reading team, debate team, and drama club.

As a member of National Honor Society, Humphreys created a display for Veterans Day, volunteered at the Humane Society of Greene County, filed paperwork for the Borough of Clarksville, collected pill bottles for recycling for the Malawi Project, and kept score for little league baseball teams. This year, Eva is the chair for the backpack program.  She coordinates student volunteers and facilitates the packing process for our weekend food program.

Humphreys participated in the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment, and is an active member of Envirothon, Science Olympiad and Upward Bound.

In the fall, Humphreys may join AmeriCorps or enroll in a four-year degree program.  “After college graduation, I wish to go into the Peace Corps,” commented Humphreys regarding her future.  She is currently employed at Giant Eagle.
