Happy Hunting Season

One thing people look forward to all year is hunting season. Hunters are out all year putting up cameras and tree stands, waiting for the season of fall to come around. The first hunting season that comes during the time of fall is archery season. Hunters use bows to get up close with their prey. Archery starts on the 4th of October and is in for a month and a half.

When the leaves start to change hunters get excited to get into the woods. The season that comes in is deer season. Deer can only be taken with a bow until the Monday after Thanksgiving. That Monday is the start of rifle season. Many people choose to hunt rifle season over archery season. Everybody has their opinions, but they are all going after the same animals. The only difference is how they take the animal. Greene County, especially, is really big on hunting season. Killing a big buck gives hunters bragging rights and everybody wants to kill the biggest.

I love hunting big bucks in the season of fall. It is a beautiful time to be out in the woods and be with nature.  Every year I look forward to getting up in the stand and hopefully get lucky. Hunting is something that my dad taught me how to do and is something that we like to do together. My dad taught me how to hunt when I was nine and since then I have been hooked. Looking at my dad’s past with all of the deer and animals he has harvested, makes me want to do the same. I look up to my dad for what he has taught me and want to be just like him.

Hunting seasons, no matter what they are, are fun things to do for the whole family. It especially builds a father and son bond like me and my dad have together.
