The Cold Has Finally Come

The weather is finally changing here in Greene County. The temperature has dropped so much that it was ten degrees when I woke up. For the first time I had to use my scraper to get the frost off of my windshield. The weather changed out of nowhere and it went from seventy to twenty. Now that it has been cold I have been doing some preparation to stay warm. For example, I have been splitting wood for the wood burner and giving my dad a hand with filling his propane tanks, as well as splitting wood for him. It is a time to do anything to stay warm.

When the weather changes hunting becomes very cold and the deer movement slows down. The past couple days that I went hunting I had to get out of the stand because I was super cold. I was as stiff as a board, my hands were frozen, a long with my legs. Late archery was put on hold for me because I am only trying to get a doe. Freezing was not worth it, especially over a deer.

Over the break when the weather started to change waterfowl hunting was an advantage because the weather helped us. The birds were moving so much and it gave us a good chance of taking some home. I waterfowl hunt with my two brothers in laws. It brings the family closer doing what we like. With the temperature dropping it allows us to have a good hunt and keep doing it together.

Ski season has finally come and there is snow on the mountain. With the cold temperatures being around Seven Springs can make snow with the snow machines. They brought in snow machines from Colorado this year and a long as the weather stays like this, it will be a good year.
