With Thanksgiving coming up very soon and the holiday season coming about, many people are beginning to participate in holiday activities. For the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, some of the most memorable times can be the ones you spend with your family. These times can be spent at home watching movies or going out to special events. There are many events in our area where families can spend time this holiday season.

There are a few holiday performances coming up in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is holding a production of The Nutcracker. PNC Broadway will be performing A Christmas Story. Another performance going on in our area is Pittsburgh CLO’s Musical Christmas Carol.

Throughout downtown Pittsburgh, on November 18, the 56th Annual Comcast Light Up Night Celebration will be held. This event is free and includes attractions such as music by national and local artists, the showing of the city’s holiday decorations, and a special bridge lighting ceremony. The night will end with a firework display.

Along with the city’s downtown decorations, lights will also be held at Kennywood’s Holiday Lights. This attraction features more than one million lights and a Gingerbread Express ride. Carnegie Science Center will be holding its Miniature Railroad & Village. This is said to be a winter wonderland of 105 animations.

All these activities are great examples of events going on near us this holiday season. Going out with family members is always fun, but holidays are just as fun when spending quality time at home with family members.
