Having A New Puppy

About a month ago, my family and I decided to get a puppy. I found the puppy from an ad on Facebook and when I saw the photo, I immediately fell in love with her. She was an adorable German shepherd and I knew that I had to have her.

The drive to get the puppy was about 2 ½ hours. I was not able to go on the drive because I was at my mother’s house. I knew that when I came home she would be there. When I came home from my mother’s and saw that the car was in the driveway, I assumed that had already arrived home and ran inside. After running around the house for a few moments with no trace of anybody there, I realized that they had not came home yet.

I called to see how far away they were from home and found out I still had an hour or so of waiting. I waited impatiently until I heard a car in the driveway and ran outside. I took her out of the car and held her the whole night.

The next few days were filled with holding and playing. She was uncomfortable and still a little scared. We tried to think of a name and finally decided on GiGi. We went shopping for collars, toys, and leashes, and it was overall a joyous time.

She got a little bigger and eventually was not so much of a puppy anymore. I came home one day and began making a cup of tea when my grandma came out of the living room with a handful of orange foam. “Is this anything of yours?” she asked. I looked at it wondering what it could be and then it hit me. It was my makeup sponge that was now shredded into pieces sitting in my grandma’s hand.

I came home last night and noticed her paws were red. I panicked at first thinking it was blood, but by the way she was acting I could tell it was more than that. She had a mischievous look on her face as if she knew she was getting away with something. I walked into my room and realized that she had destroyed one of my lipsticks.

Another thing she has particularly taken an interest to is my Bearpaw boots. The second she sees them she will run at them and begin to chew. I came out of my room the other day with my boots and she straddled my foot chewing on the top of my boot, all while I was walking.

While GiGi does have her more devious moments, she is still a very sweet dog. When she does nap she will lay at or on my feet as if it makes her more comfortable. GiGi is very protective and begins to bark and look around at the slightest sound, even if she is still very small. She is a permanent part of our family.
