The  Perks of Being a Wallflower was written by Stephen Chbosky. The book was such an emotional book, but it was very good.  The genre of The Perks of Being a Wallflower is fiction and it also fits under young adult. This is however not a series, but was made into a movie.

A brief summary this teen named Charlie goes to Peters Township in Pittsburgh he is socially awkward like every teen. He suffers from depression. and at a football game he meets three other characters Sam and Patrick and Candice and he falls in love with Sam while being with her sister. Later on Charlie finds out that his sister is in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend. Sam goes away to college in the late summer/early fall and they rarely see each other but the one night they shared they will remember for infinity.

Some quotes from the book are, “So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I’m still trying to figure out how that could be,” “Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn’t stop for anybody,” “And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.”

While reading this book the reader realizes it can like how some teens in high school are nowadays. Some are depressed, some are always happy, some just happen to love the same gender, and some get into bad relationships with people. I could definitely feel like I was there and I was in that school watching these kids be who they are.  I can picture myself just watching them and all the things they experience.

My overall opinion of this book is that it is really good. I really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it to people. This book is one of those books that make you think “What do those kids go through?” This book is very close to how some high school students act nowadays. If anyone feels like they are an outcast this book is for them. They might be labeled something new like a “wallflower”. They see and hear everything, but they stay silent
