Powder Puff for Braedyns Battle

On November 10th JM high school girls competed in the second annual Powder Puff game.

The coaches of the girls were JM’s football players, who signed up. The first game was freshman against the sophomores and juniors, and the second game, was seniors and freshman. This year the game raised money for Braedyn’s Battle, a Carmichaels student, with his cancer treatment. Last year, the game was played to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.

Even those who do not like football play just to raise money for charity.

“My favorite part about Powder Puff was raising money for Braedyn,” Morgan Spencer, a senior who played, said. “It was great to see Braedyn’s face when he was awarded the trophy.”

Students, who played, mostly enjoyed the game and might play again next year.

“I liked feeling what our football team normally feels. Being under the Friday night lights, and having people cheer is a pretty great feeling,” Katrina Schmolke said. “It was my first year, and I enjoyed it. I hated being cold, but everything was really fun,” Schmolke said.

The girls enjoyed playing for Braedyn.

“My team only practiced a few days, and football is way too complicated to try and squeeze everything in,” Schmolke said. “I really did not know what I was doing, and I was okay with that. I just wanted to have fun and raise as much as possible for Braedyn.”

Powder Puff raised $1394.75 for Braedyn’s treatment, and the seniors handed over their trophy to him as well.
