The Future of Obamacare: Better or Worse?

President Trump seems to be following what he said he would do during the election.

Top Republican lawmakers are forging ahead with a strategy of including Obamacare replacement measures in a repeal bill that would roll back big chunks of the Affordable Care Act, (CNN).  A House GOP aide involved in ongoing discussions told CNN that the strategy is being referred to as “Reconciliation Plus.” It refers to a budget reconciliation bill that would repeal Obamacare, plus additional measures that lawmakers can tack on in order to simultaneously “replace” what they roll back.

So President Trump has begun to try and recreate Obama Care, but he has to take measures before he can just get rid of it completely. Some citizens do not understand why it is taking so long, when he said he would get rid of it.

A student said “I feel as if it was something that needed to happen, Obama Care had to be dealt with in some form or other. It was something that negatively affected the middle class and more steps should be taken to help them out.”

Citizens have both positive and negative thoughts abut Obamacare.  Some do not want to see affordable healthcare repealed; however, most feel as though changes are needed.

“But Republican leaders believe that it’s important to include as many replacement measures as possible in the repeal bill because the budget reconciliation legislation only requires a simple majority of senators to be approved. Republicans are not hopeful that they will get help from Democratic colleagues on reforming Obamacare.” (CNN)

When asked about how the student felt toward Obama Care she responded, “I am in between because it can be very helpful to those in need, but has caused some harmful effects to others, so I think some aspects need to be changed.”

There are many different opinions on how good or bad ObamaCare is, but hopefully President Trump will fix the flaws that the country sees as necessary.
