Every time you go into the candy aisle of a store you’ll see these conversation hearts in boxes, in bags, everywhere! Do you ever wonder where these conversations came from and why they are so delicious?
It all started in 1847 when a Boston man named Oliver Chase invented the candy machine to cut the famous lozenges, which was known as America’s first candy-making machine. In 1866, Chase and his brother discovered how to stamp letters on candies using red vegetable dye. Then around 1902, the company Chase and his brother made, NECCO, introduced the first conversation hearts that said, “true love” or “be mine”. In 2010 they upgraded the conversation hearts and said things like, “Tweet me” and “Text me”
In conclusion, conversation hearts became a huge success and is now a great candy to give someone for Valentine’s Day. If you want something cute for Valentine’s Day to give someone give these conversation hearts to someone!
