Royer Wins 1st in Skills USA for Pennsylvania

Sophomore, Zachary Royer, competed with over a hundred other students across Pennsylvania during the Skills USA competition and was able to bring home first place in his category, collision repair technology!

Skills USA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce! SkillsUSA serves more than 360,000 students and instructors annually. This includes 20,365 instructors who join as professional members, including alumni, SkillsUSA membership totals over 400,000. SkillsUSA has served more than 13.5 million annual members cumulatively since 1965!

Zachary is a first year student at the Greene County Career and Technology Center. This was Royer’s first year competing at the Skills USA Competition for collision repair technology and he was able to obtain first place for his category for the entire state of Pennsylvania. This win allowed Royer to move on to compete at the National Skills USA competition in June! Along with winning 1st, Royer won a $10,000 scholarship for the 2018 Ohio Technical College Scholarship for a course of the study at Ohio Technical College in Cleveland, Ohio! Royer also won a $1,000 scholarship from Thaddeus Stevens College along with a classic FR cotton jacket, MIG gloves (lined), a 7PC heavy-duty body & fender tool set, and much more!
