As we all know the pumpkin pie is a staple at the table for Thanksgiving, but where did it ever come from and what is it like today?

The first actual “pumpkin pie” was actually not encased in a crust, but was actually apples and different spices stuffed into and cooked in a actual pumpkin. The first pumpkin pie was actually introduced in the 17th century, and the iconic pumpkin pie as we know today started commonly appearing on the table for Thanksgiving in the New England area of the United States. Today pumpkin pie is a huge staple at every Thanksgiving table when November comes around. It is typically served warm with a dollop of whipped cream on the top. On September 10th, 2010 the biggest pumpkin pie was created. It was made from 187 cans of pumpkin, 200 dozen eggs, over 100 gallons of evaporated milk, and 525 pounds of sugar. This huge pumpkin pie contained a total of 5,000 servings!
