Dennis Garrett is a junior and a member of the varsity football team.

Garrett has been a valuable asset to the team on both sides of the ball for the past two years,
and this year he plans to make an even bigger impact. He plays wide receiver and cornerback,
but he has a preference to playing the offensive side of the ball.

“It’s my goal this year to be the best receiver in the conference,” Garrett said. “I believe that if I
can create space and get separation from defenders, I’ll be able to perform at the top of my
game and make a huge impact.”

Garrett was originally inspired to come out for the football team by his father. He was a great
wide receiver back in his time and he is currently on the coaching staff for the team. Something
that Coach Garrett tells his son a lot is “use your speed.” Garrett has taken that phrase to heart
and has also applied it on the field.

“My speed is a big asset in my game and I think I’ll be able to help on both sides of the ball by
using it,” says Garrett. He continued by explaining just how that speed can help his team
succeed. “I think I can get myself open on offense as well as close space on defense to make
tackles or break up passes.”

Being on the field and playing the games aren’t the only things that matter to Garrett. He also
enjoys the brotherhood that is formed with his teammates and he believes that it contributes to
the team’s success on the field.

Garrett explained just how close the Rocket football team had become over the course of camp
and why it will help them. “We have so many weeks to just become closer with each other. It’s
weeks in a row that we all see each other, and I believe that the closer we are off the field, the
better we will click and succeed on the field.”

Garrett has high hopes for the Rockets this year. He believes that they have a shot at the
playoffs and he will do everything that he can to help make that happen.
