Katey Wolfe is a sophomore and a member of the basketball team. She is a second year playing on Varsity.

Wolfe has been playing basketball for about nine years. She has been playing since she was six years. All of her older siblings played, so she was exposed to the sport a lot. She gets a lot of things out of basketball like friendship, exercise and discipline. “I satisfy myself by knowing that I’m getting better,” says Wolfe on one of the most important things she gets out of the sport.

There are a lot of reasons why people keep playing a sport. Either it’s the passion or they think that it is fun. Every person is different. Also every athlete has favorite positions that they play. Katey has her own reasons why she keeps going back to basketball all these years.

Katey’s favorite thing about the sport is how unpredictable the sport is. “There are so many things you can do like pass, shoot, and drive.” She likes that it is a guessing game for the other team. She enjoys everything when it comes to basketball, but the one thing she doesn’t like is confusion on the court. She feels that it is very easy to get confused on where to where you are position on the court.

Last season is something to learn from when it comes to athletes for them to strengthen their weaknesses. Every sport has an off season, but every athlete does different activities or no activities to get ready for the next season. They also have weakens that they need to work on but also have goals for the next season.

“What is an off season? When you are an athlete there is barely a thing as an off season,” said Katey. She is a three sport athlete who also plays rec leagues.

Last season Wolfe was shooting guard and forward. Her strengths are her shots and size, as well as the fact that  she is an aggressive player. Last season she struggled with driving and ball handling.  She practiced driving and ball handing over the summer so that she doesn’t feel intimated this season coming up.

“The way the crowds react to the game is breath taking and probably the best feeling in the world” said Wolfe. She is also looking forward to her season with the seniors.

Wolfe’s goals for this season include getting more playing time as well as bringing home the section title.
