Madelyn Van Divner is a freshman softball player for Jefferson-Morgan.

“I started playing when I was five years old, and I signed up because it seemed like fun,” says Van Divner.

Madelyn Van Divner has played for a total of ten years, and plans to continue playing throughout her high school career. She aspires to be a four year Letterman, and continue to be a starter. She also hopes to be able to play in college, and plans on attending California University, PA.

“I am constantly learning more and more about softball as the years go on,” says Van Divner.

Madelyn Van Divner enjoys playing softball for fun, but she also takes it very seriously. She has prepared for this season by practicing grounders with her dad, and going to the battery cages with fellow freshman softball player, Brynn Boyd. She hopes her team can win sections this season.

“The hardest part about playing softball is playing against the other team. You can practice all you want, but in a game it is harder. The balls do not get hit right to you and the pitchers are much faster,” Van Divner claims.

Even though this sport is challenging, Van Divner has role models to look up to. She looks up to fellow softball player Morgan Simkovic because she is always there to push others to do their best, on and off the field.

Madelyn Van Divner enjoys her softball career and is very excited to expand her knowledge and skills in the sport. She has set goals for both herself and her team as a whole.
