Aaron Mylan is a junior and a member of the track team.

Mylan found that track was his niche when he started to participate during his freshman year.  Ever since then, his life has become more and more devoted to being successful in the sport he loves.  He also competes in cross country during the fall, which goes hand in hand with track.  His training for each of the sports does differ however.

“In the offseason for track I focus more on my cross country work,” Mylan began.  “That has more of a focus on long mileage and endurance, but when track season rolls around, I try to focus less on my mileage and more on my speed.

Mylan’s almost year round training is the thing that helps him get better as an athlete.  He knows that he needs to be improving everyday in order to be as successful as possible throughout the season.

Mylan explained what exactly he needed to focus on to better himself.  “I need to start to get more speed behind my mileage capabilities.  I have the endurance, but my speed isn’t quite where I want it yet.”

Although track is a team sport, it is also great to have individual success and goals. Mylan has set goals for himself that he wishes to accomplish in the upcoming season.  Being able to conquer these goals would be a big step in his athletic career.

“First of all I would like to get down into the 4:20 range for my mile time,” Mylan said.  “I would also really like to qualify for states in the 2 mile this year.”

Mylan knows that staying committed to his workout routine is key for this year.  It will hopefully lead the team and himself to success.
