Personalized Learning Time—a time where students can choose what type of activity they want to do for the day—takes place during 5th period, from 11:03 AM to 12:34 PM at Jefferson Morgan Middle/High School.
Personalized Learning Time first started at the beginning of the 2023–2024 school year, and so far it has been a success—teachers adding new PLTs ever so often, and thus students get to try out new ones from time to time. So far, many students have tried things that they might have never gotten the chance to do because of PLT—the sheer magnitude of subjects that teachers create PLTs around.
“My favorite thing about PLT is getting to annoy Eric during Dungeons & Dragons,” Jacie said when asked what her favorite part about PLT was.
PLT has been a unique and exhilarating experience for students and teachers alike, with variety being a key factor in this experience. Teachers have the freedom to choose to do any type of thing for PLT. Therefore, teachers may choose to do PLTs that they themselves are interested in doing, and in this way, PLT is a break for both students and teachers.
“My favorite part about PLT is the variety of choices with different teachers,” Kierstyn said. “It’s also easier to have meetings now.”
Overall, PLT has been a complete success for both teachers and students—it has given both teachers and students a much-needed hour break every day during 5th period. The staff at Jefferson Morgan have truly outdone themselves with the introduction of PLT. For more information about the different PLTs, ask or email the respective teachers of said PLT for questions.
