Royal+Rumble+2017+Predictions

This coming Sunday marks the Royal Rumble, one of the big four pay-per-views, and one of the biggest spectacles in wrestling. 30 men enter the match, but only one can stand tall at the end and make his way to the main event of Wrestlemania. Along with the Royal Rumble match itself, four of the titles will be defended.

Let’s take a look at the Rumble itself. Only 19 of the 30 men have been announced to actually be in the match as of now. These men are Bill Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Chris Jericho, Braun Strowman, Baron Corbin, Seth Rollins, The Undertaker, Dean Ambrose, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, Cesaro, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton. The big draw of the Royal Rumble match is the surprise participants. It can be anyone from NXT callups to people from completely different promotions. Last year Mr TNA himself AJ Styles made a surprise appearance so it’s hard to say who will show up. It’s even harder to call a winner of the match. With 30 men competing at once it’s a tossup, but there are definitely some candidates to win this year. Sami Zayn starting from an early number to underdog his way to victory, Brock Lesnar to regain some momentum, Braun to continue his monster run, and Samoa Joe to start his mega push to the top. No matter what this should definitely be the best rumble in years just because of pure wrestling talent on the roster.

Now onto the tile matches, the first of which will see Kevin Owens defend his WWE Universe title against Roman Reigns. This is a match fans have seen time and time again, and they are sick of it. Now there’s nothing wrong with the two men. They are both very talented and put on good matches, but people are just sick of Roman in the main event. If management doesn’t get that soon they will kill all credibility of the young belt. Hopefully Kevin retains his title to go on to drop it to someone more credible, but Roman is the big dog so it’s a tossup.

On the Smackdown side of things, we have the WWE Champion AJ Styles defending his title against John Cena. These two men work tremendously well together putting on a MOTY candidate back at SummerSlam. This match will undoubtedly be good, and i think it would be nice if AJ cheated to retain. This would be nice because it will keep the feud going and Cena will look strong because he wasn’t beaten clean. Other than the rumble this will definitely be match of the night.

Only one woman’s title will be showcased that night, and it’s the Raw’s Women’s belt. It will see champion Charlotte take on Bayley. This is a hard match to call. Bayley desperately needs something to stay afloat in the WWE, but the WWE can not keep hot potatoing this title around like it has no credibility. It will be best for Charlotte to retain, but cheat. If Bayley puts up an amazing fight, but losses to cheap tactics it won’t hurt her that bad, and some one can actually stay woman’s champion for more than a month or two.

The last title to be defended is the Cruiserweight title. Champion Rich Swann will take on Neville in what should be an exciting match. It would be crazy to not have Neville win. Since he’s been back he’s been tearing it up as a monster heel. He’s been completely obliterating the much smaller competition. It will be great for his character and the cruiserweight division as a whole if he becomes the new champion.

On paper this years Rumble looks to be extremely exciting, but it’s now up to WWE to make all the right decisions to truly make this a great pay per view.
