The definition of a sport is “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.” Topics of discussion among many athletes and sports partakers are whether or not ESports, are sports. Many sports such as football and baseball are obviously sports because that what this and many other generations consider sports. An ESport is just a sport that involves physical exertion (just like a normal sport) but is either driven by pure technology or gaming.

Many people whose pastimes involve gaming have grown bigger than just a pastime. Those who participate in ESports usually had some past or hobby in gaming. Just like a Pro Football player, they probably had hobbies or a past playing football. ESports are now just starting to be recognized as sports because of how today’s civilization thinks. Many people can’t conceive the fact that playing video games on a computer or console is an sport. Many people are too rash to think saying that an ESport can’t be a sport, because sitting at a desk and playing a video game competitively is silly. Many of video games today are now trying to make their games appealing to the ESports community, so if the game is liked enough by people then they can make a league for it. The ESports scene makes just as much money as the Pro scene. If you compare and contrast the only major differences is the amount of physical exertion. ESports are now sports because a sport is something that is played for entertainment, and now that enough people are into it, it is now a big industry. ESports are more focused on reaction times, coordination, hand speed, and awareness. The video games played at most ESports tournaments are all games where your reaction time and ability to outthink your opponent is key

ESL, Dreamhack, and Katowice are just some of these events that welcome PC gamers to come and watch some of their favorite games be played for a big prize pool.
