What is Walt Disney World?
The Drama Club has an upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. It should really be a great experience for all of the members going, and many of them are already anticipating it and planning out what they want to do once they arrive. But not everybody knows all that Disney World has to offer. There are many things and places that it has to offer and they are all just truly unique and magical. So this poses the question, what exactly is Walt Disney World?
Walt Disney is comprised of four major theme parks, two water parks, and a downtown shopping district. Also on the property are multiple themed hotels and resorts. The first and the most famous of the parks is the Magic Kingdom. This was the first park that was erected in Florida under the Walt Disney Company in 1971. This park is all about making fantasy a reality for the guests at the park. The park in itself has its own lands, Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. The Magic Kingdom is easily home to the most iconic rides in Disney history such as The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and also the three mountains, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain. The Magic Kingdom is the most popular park out of them all, and that’s thanks in part to the mix of the rides, restaurants, characters, and the fireworks show that closes the night that’s entitled Wishes. It is a beautiful way to close the night at the Happiest Place on Earth.
The second park is known as Epcot. Originally an acronym for “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow,” Walt Disney’s original idea for Epcot was an ever-changing community where people could actually live. However, that was found to be not very feasible, so the idea was turned into a theme park. The first half of the part is known of Future World. Future World is all about the future of technology and how it is always being innovated. This land is also home to some very popular rides including Soarin’ and Test Track. The second half of the park is World Showcase, which is home to eleven models of countries from around the globe. Every country is unique and very true to the pop culture and the past of their respective lands. Even the cast members in the separate countries are part of that ethnic background, so it really is an authentic experience. This park also has a fireworks display to end the night known as Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. It takes place over World Showcase Lagoon in the middle of the park, and it really is a sight to behold.
Hollywood Studios is Disney’s third park, and as of right now, it is a work in progress. They are currently in the process of building two major additions to the park in the form of Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land. These should really be fun and exciting additions, but they aren’t all that the Studios has going for them. This park is home to some of the best thrills a visitor can get at Walt Disney World. Those rides include Star Tours, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. This park is definitely an exciting one, and it should only improve as it ages with a mix of new additions and classic favorites.
The fourth and final park is known as the Animal Kingdom. It is dedicated to having people and animals living together in this world and also to help us as humans understand creatures more. It may not be the most popular park out there, but it still does have a lot to offer. It is home to the epic thrills of Expedition Everest and Dinosaur and also the unique experience of the Kilimanjaro Safari. Animal Kingdom is also going under a renovation with the addition of Avatar Land. It should be an exciting addition that adds more flare to the park as a whole and also making it equal to the other three parks.
The parks aren’t the only places and attractions in Walt Disney World. It would probably take pages and pages to talk about all of them, but the surface was scratched with the explanations of the parks. Walt Disney World is really a great location that is unique to almost anything else in the world, and that is why it is such a popular place.
The members of the Drama Club will be going to Disney World in late April of 2017. They plan to go to all four of the major parks and also the downtown shopping district. It is a much anticipated trip that the members can’t wait for.
