If you are a Star Wars fan, you know how to be patient. Holding out for Episode 8 wasn’t easy, but enduring the long wait to hear more information about Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ upcoming Star Wars park expansion is bound to be more difficult.

Even though it is fun to imagine guests walking about with otherworldly vendors in an immersive marketplace or even flying the Millennium Falcon, plenty of the people in the Star Wars community are still searching for more details and information about the land. We do not know about other attractions or what the light-side versus the dark-side ride will be about, or what it will even be named.

Currently, there are plenty of Star Wars experiences at both Disney Parks. Darth Vader was even replaced with Kylo Ren, but the community is excited for what’s coming down the road. Here is the seasonal breakdown of opening dates, rumors, and news. Although there is no confirmed opening date for Star Wars Land, a wise Jedi Master once said, “Do or do not, there is no try.”

In the summer of 2016, Disney put on a wonderful Star Wars themed fireworks show. That show was just a warm up for the huge undertaking by Hollywood Studios. Then in late summer of 2016, Disney moved all their Marvel characters and attractions to their California park, which would make more room for Star Wars attractions in their Florida park.

Fall of 2016 brought a successful run of Club Villain, a nighttime dining experience. That dining experience showcased Disney characters such as the Evil Queen and Maleficent. After that, rumors started spreading that there might be a similar experience with Star Wars villains; that would take place at Hollywood Studios.

Winter of 2016 brought a massive arrival, Rouge One: A Star Wars Story. That movie was released in December and its presence could be felt and seen throughout all of Disney. Episode 8 also brought new things to the parks such as settings to new Star Tours themes. Episode 8 also brought new marketing like redesigned Star Wars popcorn buckets and meet-and-greet opportunities.

However, recently Disney offered some more information about the expansion in a late December conference. According to Disney, the Millennium Falcon ride will be unlike anything they have created. New renderings show that wannabe Han Solos will be able to “fly” the ship fire laser cannons and avoid enemy fire. Disney has never had anything like this in their parks before, that is a first-person shooter style ride. Plus, the Millennium Falcon is the fastest ship in the galaxies. Additionally, it looks like humans will be hard to find in the land. Disney will be decking out cast members to resemble the actual Star Wars universe characters and people. Including the other immersive experiences, the geniuses over at Disney are planning to create an immersive dining experience similar to what is seen in Star Wars. Lastly, the goal of the expansion is to make guests feel like they are actually in the movies and the universe of Star Wars. Just wow.

I’ve always thought that I am a patient person, but being a long time Star Wars fan and hearing this information is really testing me. More information is soon to come, hopefully.
