The Best of The Best
Disney World has a lot to offer for people of all ages. There really is no good way to pick the best attractions and rides at Disney World. Picking what attractions to see or what rides to embark on is almost like picking your favorite food or maybe even picking your favorite grandparent. Additionally, people can’t compare rides at Disney World; for example, Expedition Everest comparable to Star Tours. The best way to pick which rides to go on and which attractions to see is by ranking them based on thrill factor, storytelling, and nostalgia. As Walt Disney said himself, “it’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”
#5 – Pirates of the Caribbean
The ride is both dazzling and somewhat creepy, and yet maintains somewhat of a thrill factor. Towards the beginning of the ride, the human senses are used against us to create a feeling of falling, but in reality, the boat fun seekers are on only dipped 5 to 8 feet. The ride is age appropriate, as most Disney rides are, and will is always a classic.
#4 – Kilimanjaro Safari
Animal Kingdom is much more than a zoo, but some people do not see it that way. To get the best out of Animal Kingdom, guests have to dig a little bit deeper into the park to find the goods. That is exactly what Kilimanjaro Safari is, a secret attraction. Depending on the time of day, the journey through the savannah could be a quick trip or long, not-to-be-hurried adventure. Guests at the park can make some good memories on this attraction and get some great pictures with patients.
#3 – Expedition Everest
Also located in Animal Kingdom, this is a mountain of a ride, literally. From the moment guests enter the waiting line, the story starts; being surrounded by Tibetan town of Serka Zong, with Yeti imagery being subtly introduced, creates immersion that isn’t found with any other ride. Plus, what other roller coaster goes backwards.
#2 – The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Name another ride in the world that is hosted by Rod Serling, I’ll wait. But if you do find another ride with Rod Serling as a host, it is probably a version of Hollywood Studios’ original Tower of Terror. This ride and its story that transitions into thrill is easily the best example of Disney Imagineers at work.
#1 – Soarin`
It might not be the most thrilling ride or the most intense ride, but something about peacefully gliding over different places from around the world is so peaceful. Imagine yourself over aromatic orange groves with the wind blowing in your hair or having your feet just about brush the waves of the Pacific. But before you ride, make sure place your Mickey Ears in the underseat compartment. Oh, and if you have a fear of heights, I would say to you, “just don’t look down.”
Honorable mentions include Star Tours, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Rock `n` Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, and Test Track.
But really all these rides are just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much to do at Disney, so much to ride, and so much to see. The thing to remember is to have fun and do what you want to do.
