They'll Always Be Here For You - Why Friends Has Stuck Around

With so many Television shows coming and going through the years, some may stick with a person more than another. One show that has always seemed to stay timeless and is watched over and over again by a large margin of people is Friends. But how does a show that started in the early 90’s still keeping coming up all these years later? Let’s find out.

Friends is an american sitcom that ran from 1994 up until 2004. It followed the lives of six best friends as they live out their lives in a New York apartment complex. It might sound like a pretty by the numbers formula for a show like this, Friends had one thing that it excelled at, and that was character. Whether it was the main cast or recurring character, the actors just oozed charisma and had real chemistry with one another. The relatability of the cast also makes it an easy show to enjoy, it’s just six normal people living life one day at a time. People might relate to seeing Ross try and fail, but never giving up or seeing Rachel mature from a dependent scared girl to a strong independent woman.

Viewers gravitate to something if it relates to them, and Friends has a way of showing relatable real world problems in an interning way. Everyone will have to deal with to deal with a roommate moving out or a friend leaving, but Friends takes it one step further with Chandler’s new roommate after Joey moves out is Eddie the crazy guy. While the show may age its humor or relatability never will because it’s all genuine. It will never fade into obscurity because it has made itself timeless with all of its charm and true dedication to quality. Most series like this will dip in quality or end off on a sour note, but Friends ends with everything being wrapped up and all the stories coming to a close. Ross and Rachel finally get together, Chandler and Monica are starting to move into a new house to start their family, Phoebe and her boyfriend Mike are set to get married, and Joey is promised that he’ll be the godfather to Chandler and Monica’s child.

From the first episode to the last Friends has proven that it will be there for us, like it’s been there before, and it’s not going anywhere.
