WWE Payback Preview
With the superstar shake up moving the WWE talent between the two shows, Smackdown and Raw, fans have really gotten a chance to see some matchups they would not have been able to see before. The first pay per view after the shakeup is going to be Payback this Sunday, it will be a combined show where superstars from both shows will be on display and all the titles will be up for grabs as well. Will WWE give us fresh new feuds and matches or will in just be another run of the mill pay per view? Let’s find out.
Confirmed Matches
The first confirmed match will see Bray Wyatt cash in his rematch clause against Randy Orton for a shot at his WWE in a “House of Horrors Match”. Their last match at Wrestlemania was by far one of the worst of the night and it did not showcase the amount of skill both of these men have between the ropes and it was just a dud of a championship match. Now these two have a second chance to put on the match that Mania deserved. Now this is a special match as it is a “House of Horrors Match”, WWE has yet to explain anything about this match so it will be a surprise to see what they have planned for such a match stipulation.
Probably looking to be the highlight of the night will be the match against Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns. Braun has been showing what hes got this week and the WWE Universe has been eating it up, he’s probably one of the most over men on the roster at the moment. It will likely be filled with hard hitting action and some crazy physical spots. A win for Strowman here can cement his place as a top guy and top heel this could be a big win for him and if WWE play their cards right they have a superstar on their hands.
Bayley’s Raw Women’s championship will also be up for grabs as the fresh challenger from Smackdown, Alexa Bliss, will be looking to claim her second title win. This match has all the makings to be a good one as both Alexa and Bayley play their roles to perfection with Aelxa being the spiold heel and Bayley being the underdog baby face. They are both great between the ropes too and this will more than likely be the best women’s match of the night.
Another match with potential to steal the show is Samoa Joe vs Seth Rollins. Since coming back Seth has finally gone and beat his old mentor Triple H so now it’s time to move on to the man that reinjured his knee. Since coming back Seth has seemed a bit iffy in the ring, but this should still be a great match as both men are great performers. This will also probably be the showcase for Seth’s new finisher since the pedigree is the move that he got from Triple H.
The next match will see Chris Jericho take on Kevin Owens for Owens’ United States Championship. This is probably the only match that was really “ruined” by the superstar shakeup. The idea of Chris Jericho could be believable if he wasn’t on a different brand. There is almost no chance that they will bring the US title back to Raw or that Jericho will move to Smackdown, so this will definitely be a victory for Kevin.
The only Tag Titles to be defended on the show will be the Raw titles and it will see the Hardy Brothers defend their titles against the team of Sheamus and Cesaro. This will definitely be an exciting match, but it is really hard to see WWE taking the belts off the Hardys anytime soon so the Hardys will retain, but it will be an exciting match to watch.
Potential/unconfirmed matches
Finn Balor has been back for some time and it would be very shocking to see him without a match at the pay per view so he will probably be matched up with anyone who doesn’t already have an opponent for the night.
The only other potential match could be Dean Ambrose vs The Miz for the intercontinental championship, but it’s a stretch.
Payback is looking up to be a pretty good show if WWE plays all their cards right they can have a great show in their hands.
