Together Everyone Achieves More
A team, in my eyes, is the family that you get to choose to grind with. People that you see pretty much everyday and go through things that will never be forgotten. A team is one unit. A unit that is putting in work to achieve a goal; whether that is winning sections or winning WPIALs. The time spent together dripping sweat and wanting to give up because pushing yourself harder seems to be border-line impossible is only the beginning. Although some teams never rise to their full potential, hard work does pay off. In my lifetime, I have been on teams that have an overload of talent and do not win, but also on teams that had an overload of talent and came out national champions on an 11th grade AAU level. With the winning, also brings me to teams that have not had a lot of talent but found success. Being on a team is not easy, think about it. . . Roughly 15 people having different opinions and on different skill levels playing one sport and trying to work together to win is insane. 15 different people having different things to say if something goes wrong; that is a headache just waiting to happen. A team is not easy at all, but it is worth it.
For someone who does not play sports, let me just tell you how it feels to be on a team; not just any team, but a winning team. Just imagine being surrounded by people that you spend everyday with, and doing something no other group of people have done. Here at Jefferson-Morgan, there has not been a section title for girls basketball in program history. This year, my team is going to leave everything we have on the court to try and put 2016 on the section title banner. People that do not know what it feels like to experience what it is like to be on a team is definitely missing out. A team is family; family that will always be a part of your life.
