My Final Farewell

Athletes Senior Year

I remember being seven years and and thinking that senior year would never be reality. It seemed so far away in my mind, but it was only a few years down the road. Before I knew it, it was the start of senior year and all the things that I was dreading about senior year were happening. Coming into class for the first time and seeing your teachers excited for the new school year was something that would not happen again for me in high school. You never realize it is the last time for things until they are over. I played my last game at home for volleyball, and how bitter sweet it was to play one of the teams best games ever against Frazier that night. Days later, we beat our rival Carmichaels that put us second place in the second after almost knocking off Frazier. A few more days later, I played my final volleyball game ever in playoffs against Olsh and I remember sitting on the bench with my team and thinking about how much joy volleyball had brought me through the years but I also remember thinking that I would miss the team more than the sport. As for basketball, this will be a heart breaker for me. Basketball has been my sport since I was six, and I seem to have taken it for granted when I should have worked harder. My last basketball game at Jefferson-Morgan is coming up in less than a month and that is also bitter sweet. Being a senior has its ups and downs, it is the year that everyone dreams about and it is also the one you dread. Senior year is the best yet the craziest years. You have your future to worry about, college, SATs, scholarships, finals, projects, big games and everything else that comes with being a senior. The realization that this is the final year of the best year of your life does not settle in until it is pretty much over. Although sports have had such an impact in my life for a very long time, being with my team will be unforgettable, the one thing that I will always miss is the moments that I shared with my team over the years.
