Section titles may be a regular occurrence for some teams or even some school districts. Many teams win them every year, and occasionally someone pulls an upset to win every now and then.

Thursday, January 28, 2016, will always be a date I remember. My goal since I was five was to put something on the banner in the gym. I attended high school games with my mom, and did not miss one game from 3rd grade all the way up through middle school. I watched my childhood idol, Ashley Phillips, play and wanted to grow up to be just like her. Little did I know, that years down the road, Ashley would be our assistant coach and that we would accomplish a goal that she too had dreamed of.

Being the first team in JM history to win a section title is something special. Hearing from people that were on the ’85 team, who were so so close to winning sections,  and listening to them say that we did something they could not do, is extraordinary.

The moment with my team prior to the game will always be a memory to me. I expect big things from my team, so do not go anywhere. We are not done yet!
