My Final Farewell
I have been writing for the Rocket Reporter for years and it has been a pleasure. We have transformed the website into what it is today and I hope that students in the future have the same frustration and happiness that we have had through this whole process of making it an ideal way to write articles. I have had a memorable time being able to manage a website, and sit in the class with Mrs. Huba and Janessa and try to figure out what is going on with it. The laughs about articles that we had to fix and the number of times we had no idea what we were doing will always stick in my mind as an editor for this website. You will find it to be a positive opportunity to put your feelings in words about a certain subject and be able to post it for others to see.
I want to throw a special final goodbye and thank you to my Journalism teacher, Mrs. Huba. Since freshmen year, you have been my favorite. Through the years, I have started to think like you and have learned valuable writing skills. You have molded me into the student and person that I am today, so thank you. You are always there, whether its sports, getting on me about school work, or talking to me about my future when you have a classroom full of students and being stressed to the max. You have seen my ups and downs and I truly appreciate everything you do for me and my senior class. I hope that everyone gets the opportunity to have a teacher like you to motivate them, but remind them that you were Janessa and I’s first! So for anyone who has her next year for Journalism or English, do not give her a hard time… that is my job. There will be days where you do not know what type of mood she is in, just say “thank you Mrs. Huba” and go sit, because you can never go wrong with thanking her.
A few things I have learned about Huba are, she loves Shakespeare. You will not love it, but she does and will teach the entire period with a smile on her face. If your class is doing Macbeth, make sure you are there everyday because there is no one that can translate the text into what you will understand like her. If you ask her if she has your paper and she smiles, odds are she does not know, but she will send out a search party for it. If you hide right inside the door and jump out at her, she will jump and she will take awhile to calm down from it. If you leave your phone in her room, she will take selfies on it with students. If you make her laugh, she will eventually start to cry and maybe even snort. Fridays are jeans day and she will talk to you about your “sparkle butt jeans” if you wear them. If she does not know how to do something on here, figure it out for her and then keep reminding her how to do it. If she does something that is not right, do not tell her because odds are she is excited that she figured it out, so wait until she is done and then change it for her. Last but certainly not least, she will do anything to help you if you are nice to her. Make sure she shares her stories about her family, by the end of the year it will feel like you are a part of the family. So thank you, Mrs. Huba, for everything you have done for me.
As my final article comes to an end, I want to thank Jefferson-Morgan as a whole for making my 13 years so memorable. The staff and students have always been supportive of the senior class no matter what was happening and we are so lucky to have a close relationship with everyone here. I want to thank Janessa for being my friend since the 7th grade and growing as friends through the years and supporting me through all my sports and decisions that I have had to make. So farewell to the Rocket Reporter, and the Class of 2016 as we part our separate ways.
