I think it is crazy how two people who are completely different can become the best of friends. My best friend Brooke and I are two very different people. Even though we are so different, we have been best friends for about seven years. The fact that we are so diverse from each other makes our friendship even better. We both act differently, think differently, like the opposite types of music, do different activities, etc.

Brooke and I have been friends ever since the sixth grade. The moment we became friends friends/the first time we ever talked to each other has disappeared from my mind. I cannot remember when we became friends or how we became friends. What I get from our friendship is that we have been best friends since the end of elementary school. It is nice to have a friend that is so different from you. Diversity is a beautiful thing, and diversity within a friendship can make it very interesting. When someone meets someone they like who is totally different from them sometimes they say, “Opposites attract.” That also goes with friendships and not just with someone a person likes. I agree with that saying. I do believe that sometimes opposites attract. If all of my friends were exactly like me with everything they do, say, think, and like I would crave diversity within a friendship.

There are so many things different between Brooke and myself. Brooke listens to pop music whilst I listen to every type of rock music there is and music from the 50’s, 70’s, and 80’s. A lot of my friends do not listen to the same music as I do though. Another difference between Brooke and myself is religion. I was raised a Christian and I believe in Christianity. Brooke is an atheist. Even with the fact that I am a Christian and Brooke is an atheist, we are the best of friends. Religion is not an issue within our friendship. Brooke is okay with the fact that I am a Christian, and I am okay with the fact that she is an atheist. When it comes to fashion we are polar opposites. One thing we have in common is that we wear a lot of black. Brooke wears a lot of athletic clothes and dresses up more than I do. My outfits are 98% of the time casual. My daily attire consists of a band shirt, jeans, sneakers, and a hoodie. With clothes, Brooke owns stuff that I would never wear and get repulsed by, like heels, skirts, and dresses.

I love having a best friend that is so different from me. I have always believed that diversity is a beautiful thing and is something needed in the world. There are other friends of mine that are very different from me, but I would say that Brooke is probably the friend that is the most different from me. The friendship we have is beautiful, diverse, and strong.
