Our last Farewell
Last Sunday was my last volleyball banquet, and it was a bittersweet moment. The banquet was held at Waynesburg University Dean Hall and it was absolutely beautiful. Going into the banquet I knew I would cry. The seniors had their own little table together and we all laughed and joked about the season. As a senior I learned that you have to make the most of your four years in high school. Most students complain and hate coming to school but everyone has to go, so you might as well have fun. Volleyball was one of the things that got me through the long school years. Being at the banquet it really set in that volleyball is over and I will never get to play on the court with my six great friends again. I will never feel that adrenaline of getting a kill or a dig again. At the end of the banquet our coach, Julia, spoke and gave out a few awards. I won “The Best All Around Senior Athlete”, and that was my favorite part of the banquet.
Some advice for the younger volleyball players is to enjoy these last few years at Jefferson Morgan and play with 100%. I wish I could go back and play volleyball all four years. I sadly could not play my sophomore year due to a back injury, and it is still devastating to me.
Play with heart and passion for the sport because one day it will be all over.
Do not take these four years for granted because before you know it you will be saying your last farewell to your teammates.
