Softball in January
Even though it is only January, softball is starting up for the Jefferson Morgan Varsity Softball Team. Softball is a spring sport, but we usually start having open gyms in mid January for the mainly the pitchers. This season, the team is very young. There are only two seniors this year, Brooke Diamond and Autumn Tedrow. The fact their last softball season breaks their hearts. This year will be a little different because our long time softball coach, Tony Barbetta retired this year. Rich Rush will be taking over the team. Autumn Tedrow is looking forward to this season, because she gets to spend it with some of my favorite underclassmen.
January 12th is the first open gym starting at 7:00 pm in the elementary gym. The pitchers and catchers will pitch most of the time and then maybe a little bit of hitting. The pitchers this year are Caitlyn Dugan and Autumn Tedrow. Since the team being so young, there is a lot of work to be done. Rich Rush knows a lot about the game so he should really help. The freshman class is pretty athletic so that will help out.
Since it is the last year for both seniors, they really want to make playoffs. They have made playoffs every year since they have been in high school. The last few years the team has been amazing. Autumn Tedrow hopes that they can still amount to being a great team.
Autumn Tedrow is a senior and a third year Journalism student.
Tedrow participates in volleyball and softball. She is a varsity volleyball captain.
