A Well Needed Break
For the past two weeks my dad got to come home from Afghanistan. It was really nice to know he would be coming home for a little while. He has been deployed in Afghanistan for around nine months. My family was really happy to have him home, and I know that my dad was really happy to be home as well.
My sister and her boyfriend, along with their children, all showed up at the airport right after my dad’s girlfriend and I did. When he got off the plane he was welcomed by every single one of us. There were signs made by my nieces, my sister brought balloons, and we greeted him with hugs and the biggest smiles we could make. I have not seen my dad or even a picture of him since the day he left for El Paso, Texas. Seeing him in the airport when he came home was so nice. He had changed a lot since I saw him last. His hair has more grey in it and he had lost his big stomach. He looks really good though.
Whilst he was home he got to see all of his friends and family. We went to see my pap in Beaver Falls and also got to see my aunt when we went up. We all had a nice lunch together at my pap’s favorite restaurant. We also all got to meet my uncle’s daughter, Emerson. I am sure my dad liked seeing all of his friends and his family.
My dad’s girlfriend, Sheila, and I took him to the airport to go back to Afghanistan. It was not as sad as the first time because we know he only has about two months left until he can come home for good.
