On April 15th my dad officially came home from Afghanistan. My dad has been in Afghanistan for almost a year now. During January he got to come home for two weeks before having to go back overseas. Seeing him in January was really nice because we have not seen him for nine months at that point. My family could not wait to have him finally come home again.

My dad has been deployed twice before, this time going to Afghanistan was his third time being deployed. The news that he was going to Afghanistan was very sudden, to all of us and to him. We did not have long before he went to Ft. Bliss in El Paso and then to Afghanistan. We hoped he would stay safe every day he was over there and that he would come home safe and soon.

It was a little hard on us all whilst he was in Afghanistan. We are not completely used to deployments, but since this as his third was it was not as hard on us as it was the first and second time. He was said to be in Afghanistan for 14 months, but got to come home in 12.

My family and I were so excited to go to the airport on Saturday. It was relieving when we picked him up from the airport knowing that was his last deployment he would ever have to do. We were going to bring him home and we were going to bring him home for good.
