A Man that Glows Green?
In Beaver County Pennsylvania an urban myth “The Green Man” has a haunting story. A man named Ray Robinson was electrocuted in his early years of childhood, because of this he would only come out at night. The only way he was seen was by streetlights. The lights would reflect off of the signs making a green glow appear around him giving him the name “The Green Man”.
Ray Robinson died on June 11th of 1985, but it is said that if traveling at night on Route 351 on a full moon you will see a man with a green glow and a damaged face, Ray. He was said to be a kind man if you were to sit and talk with him, but that didn’t stop the ridicule or bullying of passersby on clear nights who would go just to torment him.
Although, I’m sure his face would definitely be a different sight to see, it’s not right to make fun of him. It is incredible that he survived an electrocution. As I know electrocutions aren’t rarely occurring and when it does it is normally fatal. As a society we have normalized making fun of people who aren’t “normal” according to the way everyone else looks. Maybe if he wasn’t ridiculed so much he would have been put to rest and not still lurking in the dark on clear nights. Who knows, but I know I won’t be scared of a man with a different look than I’m used to.
