My favorite Taylor Swift’s album would have to be “Lover”. “Lover” consists of 18 songs and 4 songs including “Cruel Summer” which was just released as a single. This album was released in 2019, it is her first album with a new record label after leaving her first and only label “Big Red Machine”. Shortly after this album was released she had announced she was going to rerecord her first 5 albums with her old label.
“The Man” is my favorite song on this album. The song’s lyrics are some of my favorite lyrics of all time. They reference how men have always had the power and how women have to work towards goals for themselves. Men have it way easier where they don’t need to work hard as long as they are a man. The song also translates how in the job and business world women are looked at like maids and to look pretty, while in actuality it is just the opposite. I love how Swift makes it a point in the song to have it repeated over again to get the point well known.
“They wouldn’t shake their heads and question how much of this I deserve.”
The album sets the mood for how women are important and how love is beautiful and how it feels being a woman in love. A reference to this feeling of a woman being in love is “Afterglow”. This is also a favorite of mine since guys, I feel like, don’t understand how it feels to be a woman and overthink everything you do or say and how you don’t want to say something or do anything wrong. I would’ve loved to see this song on the “Eras Tour” set list, since Lover didn’t get a tour all to itself, because of Covid-19.
“Why’d I have to break what I love so much?”
