Taylor Swift recently announced her new upcoming 11th studio album and simultaneously broke the internet. On Sunday, February 4th, she won the Grammy award for Best Pop Vocal Album for her last album, “Midnights”, and celebrated it by announcing a brand new album. It’s titled “The Tortured Poets Department” and it’ll be released on Friday, April 19th.
“The Tortured Poets Department”, the 11th upcoming studio album from Taylor Swift, will feature 16 tracks. On physical editions of the album, there’s a 17th track called “The Manuscript”. There are two featured artists on the album; Post Malone on the record’s opener “Fortnight” and Florence + the Machine on a track called “Florida!!!”. Recording and production for the album began shortly after Swift submitted “Midnights” to her record label. Throughout her Eras Tour, she’s been secretly working on the new album that would end up becoming “The Tortured Poets Department”. At her first Eras Tour stop in Tokyo, Japan, she revealed that she would’ve announced the album at her tour rather than the Grammy’s had she not won anything. Prior to the album’s announcement, she changed her profile pictures on all social media to black and white. Multiple fans speculated that she would announce “reputation (Taylor’s Version)”. Everyone was pretty shocked the second “brand new album” slipped out of her mouth during the Grammy’s. As expected, physical copies of the album sold out within the snap of a finger on Swift’s website.
The album will be released exactly 70 days from now. The genre and what to expect is fully unknown, and Swift is never living up to expectations (as seen by the massive genre change from “Lover” to “folklore”). Will she end up adding “The Tortured Poets Department” era to the Eras Tour?
