The most important skill a student needs to learn is how to do their taxes.

You could have all the advance math you could want but you will never be ready for the real world. Everyone will have to do taxes during their life. Students go to school for years and some of the things that they learn will never be used. If anyone would ask high school student do you how would you file your taxes once you have a job.  What higher math would you need?  The only time that you need a higher math is if your job requires it. You can learn anything in school ,so why would they not have you learn about stuff you would use in everyday life.  The parents of the students pay taxes for their kids to get an education so they can learn to live on their own. With all the years that a student will put in to their life in school, why would you not try to help them with this important part of life. Maybe the school system would just want them to be the child that lives on their parents couch while the child is forty years. Is it time to change how school is teaching students? Yes most of the skills that each student learns is important but some of the basic skill still need to be taught to them.

Would you not think school is the best place to teach kids about what they will need once they graduate?
