Work Release

Students who have a job are eligible for work release if all requirements are met.

Mr. Donley stated,  “Students must a senior and all graduation requirements must be met.  Additionally, students have to keep their job.  If they lose their job, they must return to school for class.”

This year only three seniors participate in work release.

Students may either participate in work release for a semester or for the entire year.  More seniors may take advantage of work release at the end of the second nine weeks.

“The earliest a student may leave for work is 11:30.”  Each student’s circumstance is different,  so a student may need to take a sixth period class and then leave, or they may be scheduled for a seventh period class and then leave.  For example, a student may not be scheduled for a 1 pm work release.  “A work release must be scheduled to coincide with the end of a period.”

Mr. Donley said, “This is not the first year of work release at Jefferson.  We been doing it for a while. This is just the first time that students could leave as early as 11:30.”  Students interested in work release should speak to Mr. Donley, Mr. Robinson or Ms. Fischer.
