As fall approachs, so does basketball season and both players and supporters of the Jefferson-Morgan Girls Basketball Team and ready for the 2014-2015 season.  Preparations have already begun and the Rockets are ready to bring the heat.

“I am excited to watch the girls play this year, with the new coach, and the girls working hard, I am excited to cheer for them as well as travel to watch them,” said Janessa Willis, varsity cheerleader. Supporters of the team are more than eager to watch their girls go up against the schools biggest rivals. “I cannot wait to see how our girls do this season,” said Maria Christy, cheerleading captain.

The team is working on team building.  Open gyms and mini-camps are preparing the girls for the season.

“This is my first year playing since middle school, and I am nervous and excited at the same time. I am happy that I get to be back on the court playing with the girls again,” said Morgan Simkovic. For first year players, getting back up to speed with their skills is going to be the most difficult thing but as long as they keep working, they will be ready by the start of the season.  “I am hyped about playing this year, I have one year under my belt and know what to expect. I hope that this season is a successful season,” said Anna Mattish.

The team has had back-to-back winning seasons, and has intentions of going for three.  Good luck Lady Rockets!
