The National Honor Society is an organization that was established in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. It was established to recognize outstanding high school students in grades 10-12. If students stay on the honor roll, they have a chance to be in the NHS. The outstanding students in the NHS have showed great excellence in areas such as leadership, service, scholarship, and character.

NHS helps get students enthusiastic for scholarship (learning at a high academic level). Students try their hardest to maintain their 3.5 or above GPA. They learn as much as they can, and use that knowledge to keep their grades up. Another things NHS helps students with is to become more active in community service, whether that be picking up trash on the side of the road or helping out at the animal shelter. The organization also helps with students with leadership. Lastly, the NHS helps students develop character.

Along with the National Honor Society, there is the National Junior Honor Society. National Junior Honor Society is for grades 7-9. It helps in the same areas as the NHS does: leadership, service, scholarship, and character.
