Just as predicted, the alleged ties between President Trump and Russia are making even more headlines. Former President George W, Bush is weighing in on the subject with an interview with Time. During the interview, Bush comments on the idea of a special prosecutor.

“I think we need all the answers,” Bush said. “Whether or not the special prosecutor is the right way to go or not you’re talking to the wrong guy.”

Also during the interview, Bush was asked about the executive order that bans people traveling from seven Muslim majority countries.

“A bedrock of our freedom is the right to worship freely,” said Bush. “I am for an immigration policy that’s welcoming and upholds the law.”

Then on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, Speaker Paul Ryan said that the American people “need answers” regarding the ties between Trump and Russia.

“We need answers. We need to make sure that nothing happened that shouldn’t have happened as far as we go. That’s exactly what we do in our jobs [in] Congress,” Ryan during an interview with Today’s Matt Lauer.

On February 24, Republican Rep. Darrell Issa of California called for a special prosecutor that will look into possible ties between Trump and Russia. However, during an interview Rep. Devin Nunes, chairman of the House intelligence committee, said that there is no evidence that the Trump team had any contact with the Russians during the election.

“We still have not seen any evidence of anyone from the Trump campaign or any other campaign, for that matter, that’s communicated with the Russian government,” Nunes said.

Firing back at that comment was Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff of California, who is the top Democrat of the intelligence committee, saying that Nunes is making conclusions before the investigation has started.

When asked about appointing a special prosecutor, Ryan said this. “Both the House and the Senate intelligence committee are beginning their investigations right now. We’ve had one for a while. We’re increasing the scope of the investigation. We think the intelligence community is the right place to do it.”

For some citizens, it is uncomfortable to think that our president has had relations with the Russian government.

“It is a scary thought to think that our president won the election with help from Russia,” said Adam Weinschenker, a senior from Waynesburg High School. “We will have to wait to see if there will be an investigation. Until then, I don’t know what to think about it.”

However, other citizens believe that he has had no talks at all with Russia and that this might be a way to sabotage his presidency.

“Personally, I do not think he has be in talks with Russia,” says Ethan Hennessey, a senior at Carmichaels Area High School. “Innocent until proven guilty is what I’m saying in this situation, but I don’t have any fears that he is guilty,” explains Hennessey. “I am interested in how this will all play out.”
