JM Raises Awareness
When walking the halls in Jefferson Morgan one might notice the halls lined with puzzle pieces hanging on the walls. This would be because the month of April is Autism Awareness Month.
The idea came to Mrs. Fulks when she was thinking of ways to raise awareness for this disorder “The puzzle pieces were a perfect and easy way to raise awareness. Any student could color one and it was completely free. The student council and I just were thinking of the easiest way to raise awareness for Autism since April is the month for awareness,” said Fulks.
Along with the pieces, Mrs. Fulks also had a banner signed by students and faculty to abolish the use of the “R” word in school. One of those students to sign it was Jamie Lawrence. Lawrence said, “I think they are both great ways to raise for autism and people seem to really be responding well to them both.”
The puzzle pieces are free and any student can take one and color it in for awareness to be hung up in the hall. And any student is allowed to sign the banner located in the hall outside of the office.
