The 12 Grapes of New Years
It is a well known and popular New Years superstition for many people and cultures to eat twelve grapes by the time the clock strikes midnight.
Most frequently done by the Spanish, it consists of eating one grape for every twelve months of the year for good luck. Each grape represents one month of the year, and all twelve grapes have to be eaten for each toll of the clock at midnight. You cannot eat any more or any less than twelve grapes. This tradition dates back to at least 1895 and to this day gets celebrated more and more.
It might be too late now, but if you like grapes and are looking forward to a good 2024, maybe this is the tradition for you.
