Halloween is a national holiday celebrated on the last day of October where children dress in fun costumes and go door to door trick or treating.
Halloween originated about 2,000 years ago at the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, where people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Pope Gregory III, in the eighth century, designated the first day of November as All Saints Day, a day to honor all saints.
This day was later changed in name and in date. It went from All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. Also, as time has passed, Halloween became a night full of fun spooky activities! Now, children enjoy yummy treats, carving pumpkins, festive gatherings, and creating unique costumes.
