A Christmas tradition most people celebrate are hanging stockings by the fire on Christmas night.
The tradition of stockings originally came from a popularly known man, St. Nicholas, AKA Santa Claus. Tradition says, Nicholas once helped a poor man with two daughters who could not afford their dowries. It’s said Nicholoas threw down bags of gold from their chimney, and they landed in socks hung by the fire to dry after being washed. That’s why children all over the world hang stockings and find gifts in them Christmas morning.
