On Thursday, May 2nd 2024 The Jefferson-Morgan High School SADD Club will be hosting a Teen Expo.
Mr. Corbett and the SADD Club are hosting this event open to the public. There will be a total of 12 stations for students 9-12 to go through. From 8:30 to 11 the expo will be taking place in the Jefferson-Morgan gymnasium. There will also be a station in the front lobby and one outside. There will be a PennDot truck outside with guys explaining what goes into clearing and salting the roads when it snows. You will be able to sit in the truck and get a feel for what it is like to be driving or the passenger of the truck.
“I’m super excited to drink and make the mocktails at the mocktail station!” says Elsa Roberts.
The JM SADD students will help work different stations along with other volunteers from various organizations such as the State Police, State Farm, PennDot, and IU employees. There will be drunk goggles to simulate what it looks like to be intoxicated provided by the State Police. There will also be a car simulator to get an understanding of what it would be like and why it is so dangerous, and illegal, to drive impaired. Some SADD students will work the mocktail booth providing “Mike’s ‘Soft’ Lemonade” and “Cherry Bombs”. Other booths will have temporary tattoos and other games with the drunk goggles as a challenge. At each station there will be a stamp and you will be provided with a card to get stamped so you can enter to win gift cards, provided by State Farm.
Joseph Bair says, “I hope I win the raffle again.”
