What Adults Need to Remember
One thing adults need to be reminded about us as students and as young adults is that we can be just as stressed as they can. School can be a very stressful thing.
Trying to balance good grades, social life, sports, tests, homework, and everything else that is thrown at students can be difficult. Adults need to remind themselves that even though it is just school, we can get overwhelmed by it just as they can get overwhelmed with work. Adults need to be reminded that just because students are sitting in a building learning all day does not mean that they cannot be stressed out. The tests can be nerve racking, especially if their parents expect them to excel in their school work. Some students even push themselves to study all night just to do well on a test, causing them to lose sleep from the stress of a letter grade. Students can also stress over a big game that they are going to be competing for the next day. Other students are falling behind in classes and are worried about all of the work they have to do and turn in. School can be a pleasant experience and other times it can be a nightmare. One bad test grade could make a student have to work harder just to bring it back up again. Adults also need to be reminded that even though we are young adults and students, it doesn’t mean we are clueless and ignorant.
Adults have to be reminded that students can and will be as stressed as them at times. Everyone’s school experience is different, and some are more stressful than others. They need to be reminded that even though we are younger, that does not mean that we are immune to stress.
