Joe Headlee – Athlete Biography
Joe Headlee is a junior and a member of the baseball team.
Headlee is a 2 year letterman up to this point and he would like to become a 3 year letterman this year. He has spent his entire high school career playing in the outfield and this year is no exception. Left field will be the home to the junior this year as he will also be hitting third in the lineup.
“I’ve been hitting in the three spot and I’ve been doing fine,” Headlee explained. “Leading off can be really nerve-racking, so I prefer to stay in the middle part of the order.”
Baseball is a team game and Headlee looks to help the team in every way possible. Although having a great stat line at the end of the day is great, it is not all about personal success for him. Being a veteran at the high school level now, he looks for the full team to succeed.
Headlee first explained a personal goal of his for the season. “I hope to have a high on-base percentage this year,” Headlee said. However, his personal goal does contribute to the team’s success. “Hopefully getting on base means more runs that the team scores,” Headlee continued. “Another thing I want to do is keep the team enthusiastic to play the game. A good attitude is key to being great in the game of baseball.”
Headlee is a quality player who helps the team put runs on the board who also plays great in the field. However, he himself knows that he needs and wants to improve on certain aspects of the game.
“I need to improve my fielding and hitting. Never stop working,” he admitted. “A big part is to continue to get on base. I strive to better myself everyday.”
Headlee looks to be an important factor in the baseball team’s success. He does believe that the team can be successful if they can stay focused and they continue to improve as a whole.
