Jasmine Smitley is a freshmen and a first year Journalism student.

Jasmine takes online Korean classes and studies Korean culture. She has been taking these classes for two or three months, but before that she was learning Japaneses. She used to teach a native Korean English while he taught her Korean, but she moved on to another easier class. She has a tutor who teachers her to write in Korean, but she also has a tutor who teachers her to speak Korean. Learning Korean is very important to her because she wants to travel to Korea and potentially move there.

Jasmine enjoys drawing, reading, writing, and listening to music. Her sister was very artsy and creative growing up and that had a big influence on her. Her sister taught her some styles and after that she started going to art classes. Writing has always been her favorite subject, but after school she likes to write her own short stories. She loves to read because it’s an escape from the real world and fiction is her favorite. She grew up with music. Her dad was always playing the guitar and listened to bands like Metallica. She likes almost all genres but growing up with rock definitely influenced a big part of her life.
