Groundhog Day is a United States and Canada tradition on February 2 every year. They say Groundhog Day determines whether winter will be longer or if spring will come sooner.
One of the biggest traditions in the United States takes place on February 2, also known as Groundhog Day. The main thing that people do is watch to see if the groundhog comes out of its burrow if he’ll see his shadow or not. If he sees his shadow then there will be six more weeks of winter. If there is no shadow seen then there will be an early spring. The groundhog that they watch is named Punxsutawney Phil. It is held at Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
