Halloween is a holiday that is celebrated on October 31st every year. It is celebrated worldwide! It originated from Saints Day and Hallow’s Eve.
Halloween is known as a day to dress up and go get candy from people’s houses, but have we really looked into the real origins of the holiday? Halloween was originally a sort of incorporation for the Samhains, because Pope Gregory III made November 1st as a day to honor all the Saints. Then he made the day before All Saints Day “All Hallows Eve.” Which later on changed into the name Halloween. But back then the Samhains believed that that was the day the souls of the dead would come to their old homes. So in order to ward these spirits off they would dress up in costumes and make bonfires to scare them off.
Halloween eventually became the holiday it is today from the original ideas and beliefs of the Samhains. But now the holiday is viewed as a more joyful kind of holiday, at least joyful enough for kids to enjoy.
